35 years ago in Needham Market, Suffolk, a man in his early eighties was
telling me he'd just enjoyed a day out in Claydon. As this was an
unremarkable little village only a mile or two down the road, I was a bit
baffled. Eventually, I gave up trying to figure out what he was on about
and asked him to spell the place. It was Clacton.
